I'VE MOVED

Since I started blogging a few months ago now I’ve had my journal housed here with Bravenet and although I love Bravenet and use loads of their stuff and they also provide my web hosting I found their blog rather restrictive in the way I could get it to look and feel and I do like to do things ‘my way’ so I’ve moved it all over to my own server.

You can find it here:  http://www.angiesweb.net/blog/index.html

I hope you like the new look and that all the friends I’ve made over here at Bravenet will continue to visit me in my new home.

Love Angie xx

This - I’m hoping - will be my last entry here for a couple of weeks. All being well we are having a break away although it does rather depend on the weather which at the moment isn’t looking very promising. We might have to have a change of plan. Believe me being stuck in a caravan with 3 restless dogs and a bored 10 year old is no fun LOL

The next couple of weeks are a ‘if I’m here you’ll hear from me if I’m not you wont’ time.

Wishing you all a great weekend and if I don't speak to you before a Blessed Easter.

Funny for Today:

A man walks into the street and manages to get a taxi just going by.

He gets into the taxi and the cabbie says

“Perfect timing, you’re just like Frank.”

Passenger: “Who?”

Cabbie: “Frank Feldman. He’s a bloke who did everything right.  Like my coming along when you needed a cab. It would’ve happened like that to Frank every single time.”

Passenger: “No ones perfect all the time”

Cabbie: “Frank was. He was a terrific athlete. He could’ve won Wimbledon and he could play golf with all the pros”.

Passenger: “It sounds like he was something really special”

Cabbie: “He had a memory like a computer – he could remember everybody’s birthday.  He knew all about wine, which foods to order and which fork to eat them with.  He could fix anything as well. Not like me, I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out.”

Passenger: “Mmm, there’s not many like him around.”

Cabbie: “And he knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good and never answer her back even if she was in the wrong, and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished, too.”

Passenger: “An amazing fellow. Where did you meet him?”

Cabbie: “Well I’ve never actually met Frank.”

Passenger: “Then how come you know so much about him?”

Cabbie: “Because I married his bloody widow”!!!!!!

Hello and a Happy Monday afternoon to anyone reading this.

The weather today is horrible it’s blowing a gale and it’s raining and it’s cold and not at all Spring like

We changed the clocks over the weekend to British Summer Time so the evenings are lighter now but with weather like this who wants to see them?

This weather is NOT what we need, the kids break up from school this Friday for the 2 week Easter Holidays (ohh for anyone reading and wondering Becky has made a full recovery and is back to school today) The park where we have our caravan sited opens on April 1st so all being well we are planning a fortnights break away but this weather is going to mean it’s going to be so muddy and boggy there.

Brian was at the park at the weekend over seeing the siting of our caravan and said that the area around our pitch seems more water logged than anywhere else, I think this could possibly mean that the lake or river broke it’s banked over the winter, so I think it’s going to be Wellington Boots for all of us.

The Mysteries of Weight Loss

I’ve been doing some research to try to answer some of my questions regarding the mysteries of weight loss and why one hits these so called ‘Plateaus’ or what I call ‘Brick Walls’.

I was going along nicely with my weight loss. I’d lost 10lb and very please with myself I was too and then it just stopped and I lost nothing at all. Months went passed (well actually it was about 18 days but it seemed like months) and my weight would go up a pound then drop a pound then go up a pound then drop a pound, suddenly I was getting no where fast., I hadn’t changed my eating habits but quite out of the blue what was working no longer was giving me results.

I felt rough on Tuesday this week, a bit over tired I think, I had an early night that night and all was well again on Wednesday but over that 24 hours of not feeling 100% somewhere along the line I lost my resolve and I woke the next day thinking ’oh blow the diet’!!

I didn’t go mad and stuff myself with chocolate or anything like that but I did eat slightly more and I confess I had ’proper’ sugar in my tea rather that yucky bitter tasting sliming stuff.

For dinner on Friday I had -- wait for this -- a fried egg, chips (that’s French fries if you’re American) and baked beans, I also made myself what we in England affectionately refer to as a Chip Butty - for those of you who are not familiar with a Chip Butty it’s basically a sandwich made out of chips and probably loaded in calories particularly if you have butter on the bread as I did.

I stood on the scales on Saturday morning fully expecting to see a weight gain of at least a pound or two and knowing that I would have no one to blame for it but myself but instead I’ve lost a pound. Now go figure that???

I diet like there’s no tomorrow and I lose nothing or I even gain a pound, I eat a meal saturated in fat and calories and I lose a pound. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it to me.

In my quest to try and find out how on earth this could be this is what I found out.

When someone begins a new diet and cuts their calorie intake by about 500 per day that then creates a negative energy balance, less energy consumed than the body requires. It then needs to start using up energy stores to make up for this 500 calorie deficit, in other words it uses the bodies fat supply.

As protein and carbohydrates are used from the cells it causes a reduction in the amount of lean mass forcing the metabolism to decrease, this means the individual now requires less energy to maintain the new weight. In other words, the body has gradually adapted to match the new energy intake! Also as the body becomes progressively lighter fewer calories are burned during movements so the overall energy expenditure also reduces.

The bottom line is the initial 500 calories per day reduction no longer continues to be effective for losing further weight as the body no longer recognizes that there is a calorie deficit.

So that’s a Plateau explained, but that still doesn’t explain to me why I ate egg and chips and lost a pound.

Anyway having lost another pound and now having a total weight loss of 11lb and edging very close to being able to say I’ve lost a Stone has given me back my resolve.

OK so I think you’ve read enough of me rambling on about the weather and my weight loss I’m outta here to go fill some orders.

Funny for Today

Getting Old

"OLD" IS WHEN... Your sweetie says, "Let's go upstairs and make love," and you answer, "Pick one, I can't do both!"

"OLD" IS WHEN.. Your friends compliment you on your new alligator shoes and you're barefoot.

"OLD" IS WHEN..... A sexy babe catches your eye and your pacemaker opens the garage door.

"OLD" IS WHEN.... Going bra-less pulls all the wrinkles out of your face.

"OLD" IS WHEN..... You don't care where your spouse goes, just as long as you don't have to go along.

"OLD" IS WHEN.. You are cautioned to slow down by... the doctor instead of by the police.

"OLD" IS WHEN... "Getting a little action" means I don't need to take any fiber today.

"OLD" IS WHEN..... "Getting lucky" means you find your car in the parking lot.

"OLD" IS WHEN..... An "all-nighter" means not getting up to pee.

I have updated Angie's Web today with 2 new Stationeries.

You'll find them by clicking on the 'OE & IM Stationery' link on the main page at www.angiesweb.net

Also 2 new Premades for you.

The newest stationeries and graphics are all nearest the top of the pages.  (You might need to click your 'Refresh' button to see them).

There will be no updates to Angie's Web for the next 2 weeks as we are taking a break and will be away from home although I'll have my laptop with me I won't be able to connect to the Internet.

7:12 PM

It’s been a funny week this week, hence my lack of posting. After last week I was looking forward to getting back to normal this week - Mmmmmmmm famous last words.

3.10pm Tuesday afternoon saw Becky arriving home from school looking very pale and peaky indeed. Closer examinations found her glands were up, her temperature was up and she looked and felt dreadful.

I have since learned that apparently whilst they were away last week the girls were waking up at about 5 in the morning, now considering they were having extremely active days and they weren’t going to bed until passed 10pm this made for some very tired little people.

Last weekend should have been a time for calming down and battery charging but Becky for one was still on a high from it all.

I think Tuesdays malady was the end result of all this, her little body was saying if you wont take it easy and give me some down time I’ll just take it and make you have it.

So I’ve had Becky off school and at home since Wednesday. Becky is such a drama queen when she’s poorly and there was no doubt about it, she was poorly this time (oh yes, it’s not unknown for her to try to pull the wool over my eyes and fake a tummy ache or feeling sick to get the odd day off school, what she‘s yet to learn is that Mums always know) but when she really is a bit under the weather she likes to milk it for all it’s worth.

And why not too - they’ll be plenty of times when she’s older when she’ll be feeling awful but just have to ‘get on with it‘, that’s one of the special things about being little, when you’re not well everyone stops what they’re doing and makes a great fuss of you.

So I’ve had the distraction of Becky laid up on the sofa for 3 days plus yesterday I was browsing a Stationery Top Sites List and clicked to go to what was a very innocent looking Stationery website and the next thing I knew my Norton AntiVirus was going crazy and flashing messages at me and I‘d got a virus.

I wish I could remember the name of the website I was on and the URL firstly so I would know to never go there again myself and also so I could warn you about it but unfortunately in my panic I shut the site down without making a note of it and then proceeded to spent the next 6 hours getting rid of the damn virus it had infected me with.

So if you frequent Stationery websites be careful, there is a Stationery website out there somewhere carrying a nasty virus; so you need to make sure your AntiVirus programs are up-to-date.

I had spent ages in the week drawing some Easter Line Art for my members area, lots of intricate decorations on various sized Easter Eggs and saved them all ready for uploading today.

I restored my computer back a couple of days just to make absolutely sure I had completely got rid of the virus. Today when I come to find my eggs they’ve gone

I’m sure a restore is NOT supposed to do that, it gets rid of any programs you’ve installed and restores any settings back to what they were but I thought that any saved files stayed, I know for sure that was the way it worked on my old computer, but my eggs were gone, I wasn‘t very happy about that. Oh well I guess I’ll just have to get on and draw them all again.

And I think that’s brought you up to date, I can’t think of any more news at the moment

Members updates today are:

6 new Stationeries which you’ll find under the new ‘Candle Light’ category

4 new Flippity Pixel Tubes and

A new PSP Tutorial for making Tubes.

9:09 AM

Good Morning Everyone !!!

Here in England it's just before 9am and I'm on my 3rd cup of tea.

Well life around here seems to be getting back into routine now. Back to the untidy bedroom to attack every morning, back to the trail of clothes from the bedroom to the bathroom to pick up, back to pens and pencils and paper all over my lounge, back to the battles in the morning in get Becky shifting herself and off to school on time and back to putting up with that hideous music blaring out of her stereo. It’s good to have things back to normal.

Today is the first day of Spring and I’d love to be able to tell you that’s it’s a lovely bright spring day outside but alas it‘s far from it, it‘s dull and overcast with some very dark looking rain clouds heading our way, although rain would be a good thing.

The South East of England has had two consecutive winters with below-average rainfall. The period between November 2004 and January 2006 was the driest for more than 80 years.  Many areas in the South East of England have a hose pipe ban in place and many more areas are planning to introduce one soon. We desperately need some rain here in England.

I’m feeling a bit out of salts this morning, I’m not quite sure why. As some of you know I’m on a diet at the moment, so far I’ve lost 10LB (curtsy) I’m doing pretty well and I’m being good   but I think sometimes it catches up with me and my blood sugar levels drop too low and it makes me feel nauseas and headachy, think I might go and have myself a bowl of porridge in a minute, that usually does the trick, it fills me up but there’s not too many calories in it.

My arm is really painful this morning as well. The magnetic bracelet that I had high hopes for doesn’t seem to be doing anything at all to help although they say it has to be worn for 2 - 3 months before you see results and I’ve only been wearing mine for about 6 weeks, but ….. we have since been told that a bracelet is only good for mild pain and general well being, for acute pain I need a strong magnetic right on the source of the pain - so says this other company who just happen to market these kind of magnets.

Who knows? I don’t know, but I’m willing to try anything.

Funny For Today

Jack decided to go skiing with his buddy Bob. They loaded up Jack's
mini van and headed north. After driving for a few hours, they got caught in
a terrible blizzard. They pulled into a nearby farm house and asked the
attractive lady who answered the door if they could spend the night.

"I realize it's terrible weather out there and I have this huge house all
to myself, but I'm recently widowed," she explained, "and I'm afraid the
neighbors will talk if I let you stay in my house."

"Not to worry," Jack said, "we'll be happy to sleep in the barn, and if the
weather breaks, we'll be gone at first light.

The lady agreed and the two men found their way to the barn and settled in
for the night. Come morning, the weather had cleared and they got on their
way and enjoyed a great weekend of skiing.

About nine months later, Jack got an unexpected letter from an attorney. It
took him a few minutes to figure it out, but he finally determined that it
was from the attorney of that attractive widow he met on the ski weekend.

He dropped in on his friend Bob and asked: "Bob, do you remember that
good-looking widow from the farm we stayed at on our ski holiday up north."

"Yes, I do."

"Did you happen to get up in the middle of the night, go up to the house
and have sex with her?"

"Yes," he said, a little embarrassed about being found out, "I have to
admit that I did."

"And did you happen to use my name instead of telling her your name?"

Bob's face turned red and he said, "Yeah, sorry buddy, I'm afraid I did.
Why do you ask?"

"No need to apologize, Bob. She just died and left me everything!

(THOUGHT THE ENDING WOULD BE DIFFERENT, DIDN'T YOU???)
